Immigrant Connection is a national non-profit focusing on low-cost immigration legal services. Their Welcome programs help those seeking to learn the content found on the U.S. citizenship exam.

The programs utilize teacher and student workbooks written by Imke Risopp-Nickelson.

This project saw major content updates to align with new immigration guidelines. This second edition included new images, tables, vocabulary, exercises, and updated lessons to better teach students about what it means to be a U.S. citizen.

Linen Maid Revival is a revival font based on an illustrated plate from the 1700’s showcasing the most commonly used cross-stitch alphabet at the time.

This project digitizes the uppercase alphabet, sees the creation of a new lowercase alphabet, as well as new punctuation marks. The project then developed into a poster series that sees the font cross-stitched in various sizes and pieced together.

The final poster was scanned and RISO printed in various colors. All posters were displayed side by side at Appalachian State Universities senior graphic design show Omnium Gatherum.

Omnium Gatherum celebrates the Graphic Design BFA class of Spring 2025. The title Omnium Gatherum describes the senior cohort which is diverse both in their design strategies and backgrounds.

From audio visual components, to interactive displays, the various needs each project required provided a unique set of challenges to overcome for the exhibit to succeed. Omnium Gatherum also included a reading nook and a gift shop for visitors, completely unique to this senior show.

The seniors each contributed to the design, production and planning of the exhibit.

My role consisted of: Layout planning, gift shop coordination, communication with event location, exhibit set up and take down.

ASU DEPT. OF ART

PUBLICATION

SPRING 2025

The Department of Art publication was an undertaking by a small group of students and faculty. The goal when creating the publication was to show off Appalachian State’s unique spirit through the art created by its students.

The design mixes cascading typography and various photo sizes to keep the pages dynamic. This was combined with Appalachian State’s brand colors to make the publication familiar to prospective students.

This publication was made under the supervision of Mark Nystrom and Jessica Greenfield and was designed in collaboration with Ivy Fortner and Valeria Homayden.

This project was the recipient of a Silver at the 2026 Triangle American Advertising Awards.

From The Top is the branding identity for the inaugural back to school event promoting Appalachian State University’s Department of Art. The goal of the event was to encourage students to get to know their fellow students, professors, and newly renovated art building.

The branding identity plays with childlike illustrations, bold color combinations, and playful typography.

This project was made under the supervision of Mark Nystrom and Jessica Greenfield and was designed in collaboration with Ivy Fortner and Valeria Homayden.

Much Ado About Nothing is an exploration of Shakespeare’s comedy through typography. The publication handles the play’s multiple chapters and stage directions with various character and paragraph styles.

Inspiration was taken from the story’s setting, time period, and genre to inform the publication. The cover was inspired by Venecian lace, while the typography took inspiration from the gardens and romance in the story. Special attention was taken to make the finished files print ready.
